For those of you who are fans of the Fun&Done! quilt-as-you-go technique, the newest design is Star Parade:I designed this in part as a good donation quilt, in patriotic colors for our military personnel. And it doesn’t need to be longarm quilted! I discovered that some organizations have a minimum size for a donation, so I added another size that is larger than a lap but smaller than a twin. In case the charity requires a double-fold binding, instead of the super-easy Fun&Done! binding, I included instructions for that too.
Star Parade doesn’t have to be done in patriotic fabrics. My pattern tester Betty made a beautiful sample in earthtones. Notice that she used cream in place of the red in my sample, giving it a very different look:Wouldn’t this look great for the holidays too? A red, green and gold poinsettia would be great!
Here is a close-up of the front, showing that the reds and blues were done in a variety of fabrics, giving the quilt more depth and sparkle:
Since this is quilt-as-you-go, I can’t cover any recommendation on how to machine quilt it – the quilting is already done as you construct the blocks! But I can show you the back anyway. For this sample, I used a variety of reds, giving the back a little more interest:For more information on this pattern, see it on my website here.
